Flexible Seating
Flexible seating is seating in the classroom that gives students choice. Every day student get to choose the spot they sit in that allows them to do their best classwork. There are many options other than traditional desks. Some student supplies are kept in book boxes and the student may grab their box and take it to the spot they have chosen.
In a flexible seating classroom, students are not up roaming around and playing. They are still held to the same quality of work and curriculum.
Research shows that flexible seating:
-
helps student attention spans, leading to increased achievement.
-
Promotes active learning helps students with ADHD, Autism, and other special needs
-
encourages students to take responsibility for their learning
-
motivates students to want to scome to school
